Physiotherapist - School Therapy Services

We are currently recruiting for the following positions in School Therapy Services

  • A permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Physiotherapist with a designated office of Stratford. The designated office for this position will be Stratford. Services are provided in Huron and Perth counties. This position is based on the school year and no work is available during school breaks, including July and August.
  • A temporary Physiotherapist with full-time (37.5 hours/week) hours during the school year, and part-time (22.5 hours/week) hours in July and August. This position is expected to begin in January 2025 and end in November 2025. The designated office for this position will be London. Services are provided in Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford counties. 
     

This exciting role provides therapy services to students in schools and involves working with a variety of fellow clinicians, educators and parents to help children and youth participate in their school environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide individualized school-based intervention in a direct/mediated/consultative approach. Also provide consultative intervention at the classroom/school level. 
  • Assess and advise and provide education to school personnel, clients/families and others in areas including mobility, transfers, gross motor skills, respiratory skills, etc. Make recommendations for equipment, accessibility, assistance, exercise, activity, positioning, chest clearance, etc 
  • Prepare and support children and families in the transition to school and throughout school life;
  • Plan services as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes the family, other care providers, school board personnel, volunteers, staff from other agencies, and other TVCC staff;
  • Participate in ongoing program development;
  • Supervision of students and support personnel may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario;
  • Experience in paediatrics is preferred;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team setting;
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office Suite 2010 and videoconferencing software (ex. Teams)
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification;
  • Ability to provide services in French would be considered an asset.
