TVCC offers student placements. We are committed to providing quality student placements. We offer both clinical placements and non clinical student placements.
Clinical placements are for people registered in University or College programs that require a placement or internship as part of the students' coursework. These are not paid positions. The number and types of placements available depends on staff availability.
Non-clinical student placements such as related college cooperatives are also offered.
Students have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings therefore receiving an overview of the services provided at TVCC. Students gain new skills related to their area of interest such as knowledge of children with disabilities, office skills and computer skills.

Students are provided not only opportunities to develop clinical skills of their discipline, but also to learn about work on an interdisciplinary treatment team. Students have the opportunity to observe and participate in a variety of clinical services across our organization.
COVID-19: Please note that during the pandemic, we are offering limited placements and they are primarily through virtual means.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:
Working Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and sometimes evenings (with some exceptions at the discretion of the supervising therapist)
Dress Code: Comfortable yet professional attire which will allow you to get down on the floor to provide treatment to children.
Parking: In London, student parking is available in front of TVCC (Lot 7) for a fee. Parking rates change often see here for a map and current rates. There is free parking available on nearby streets, some of which have time limits. Parking at Regional sites varies.
Driving: As many of our services are community-based, placements may require the use of a vehicle. These requirements need to be discussed in the early stages of arranging a placement.
Other Facility Requirements:
We require a current Criminal Reference Check before starting a placement here. Any placement involving visits to schools will require going through the provincial school board reference check process before starting the placement. We also need proof of up-to-date immunizations and TB tests before the placement begins.

Non-Clinical Placements
Volunteer Services coordinates, supervises and evaluates all non-clinical student placements including high school cooperative placements, adult education cooperative placements, college cooperative placements etc. Generally, we accept one high school placement per semester. Other cooperative placements are reviewed according to the needs of the Centre at the time of request. Most non-clinical placements involve a variety of service areas as opposed to one particular area of focus.
The expectations of students is similar to volunteers in that we are looking for students who are enthusiastic and flexible, dependable and punctual, enjoy working in an environment with children and are willing to have fun.
Students wanting non-clinical placements are required to complete an application process, attend an interview, provide three references, complete a Vulnerable Position Screening (formerly the Criminal Reference Check), provide documentation of an updated immunization record and TB test and attend an orientation & training session.
