Accessing Autism & Behavioural Services

We are passionate about helping children and youth with autism be at their best!

For over 24 years, Autism & Behavioural Services (ABS) at TVCC has been providing services for children and youth with autism/ASD and their families in South-Western Ontario.

All of our services are provided in alignment with the mandate of the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), which is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).

Your child is eligible for the OAP if they:

  • Are under the age of 18
  • Currently live in Ontario, and
  • Have a written diagnosis of autism from a qualified professional

Getting a Diagnosis

Are you concerned about your child/youth’s development?  

Connect with the Western Region ASD Diagnostic Hub or visit a Qualified Professional to have your child/ youth assessed for autism.

Registration is through the McMaster Children's Hospital/Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre

Confirmed Diagnosis

Has your child/youth received an autism/ASD diagnosis?  

Register for the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) as soon as possible! There are many eligible services and supports across the province that you can access once your child/youth is registered.

Waiting for Funding

Have you registered your child/youth with AccessOAP and are now waiting for an invitation or funding?

Complete the TVCC online intake form or speak with an Intake Coordinator to register at TVCC and ensure prompt access to Autism & Behavioural Services as soon as possible.  

Connect with our Autism Family Liaison (AFL) at any time to discuss your child's needs and learn more about Autism & Behavioural services at TVCC.

  • OAP funding (from the Determination of Needs Assessment)

If you have confirmed an eligible funding source, let us know today!

You can use OAP funding to purchase eligible Core Clinical Services (CCS) treatments such as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT) and mental health services.

Our Foundational Family Services program gives you access to free services, events and resources to best support your child/ youth with autism. 

Do you have questions and want to discuss your family's needs? 

Book a free TWM Consultation with one of our Family Community Consultants (FCC’s) to discuss any issue, topic or question you have even before you have fully completed the OAP registration. 

Do you have young child (12-48 months) with autism? 

Register for our C-MEY program after you receive a letter of invitation from Access OAP.  

Is your child preparing to attend School for the first time? 

Explore our Entry to School program for support in preparing your child for a successful transition to the school environment after you receive a letter of invitation from Access OAP.

Through our partnership with Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, our team will guide you on how to manage challenging behaviours and you will learn effective strategies to promote positive behavior at home.
