Set-Up

In-person Groups

Treatment is provided to children and youth in TVCC classroom settings or select community settings specific to the theme or curriculum of the group. The number of staff supporting each group is based on the type of group offered.  Parents and caregivers are not required to remain on site during the in-person group session. *For the safety and success of all participants, specific criteria will be identified for participation in each group.

Virtual Groups

Treatment is provided to children and youth using the MS Teams platform. Parents or caregivers may be required to participate, remain near for support, or be available for technical support only. This is determined based on your child or youth's independence and ability to maintain engagement and responding in the virtual environment.

Parent Engagement

Collaboration with Foundational Family Services will highlight related parent and caregiver educational opportunities that are available while the group is scheduled.

CURRENT GROUPS

BUILD, PLAY, EXPLORE: 3-Day March Break Camp!

(ages 10-15yrs)

Each day features a creative theme, including: Lego, video games, and science experiments & cooking!

Using evidence-based strategies in Applied Behaviour Analysis and the PEERS ® curriculum, various opportunities to learn, have fun, and make new friends are offered in our 3-Day Camp. Our experienced therapists, overseen by a Registered Behaviour Analyst, R.B.A., (Ont.), also ensure a safe and inclusive space for all!

3-day March Break Camp in Chatham:

ADHD & ASD: Parenting Starter Kit 

(caregivers of children/youth 6-13 yrs)

This virtual group is offered by Child and Youth Psychologists and Graduate Student Clinicians.  It is designed to give caregivers evidence-based tools to manage ADHD symptoms in children who also have autism.

Come together to learn and share strategies in a small virtual group, then have a private virtual meeting with a Graduate Student Clinician to discuss your own situation. After the group is finished, additional 1:1 sessions may be offered, as appropriate.

This group is offered through a partnership with TVCC's Autism & Behavioural Services and the University of Western Ontario Education Department and Mary J. Wright Child and Youth Development Clinic.  

Beyond Autism: Empowering Parents to Support Children with Developmental Delays

(caregivers of children 4-18yrs)

Join this virtual parent group is run by a Registered Psychologist and Psychology PhD Students at the Mary J. Wright Child and Youth Development Clinic. Together, we will help you understand what Autism is and what is “Beyond Autism”, requiring additional support and strategies.

Chat Quest: Level-Up Your Social Skills!

This engaging virtual group offers interactive challenges, role-playing scenarios, and skill-building exercises to enhance your social skills. Get ready to conquer your goals! This dynamic virtual group turns task analysis into an exhilarating adventure through interactive missions, engaging role-plays, and fun challenges. Whether you are organizing your daily routine or tackling a big project, this group will help equip you with the skills and confidence to break down your tasks, stay organized, and achieve success. Join fellow adventurers in this exciting journey to sharpen your task-busting abilities and make every mission a win!

Safe and Sound: Home Alone Skills

(14-17 yrs)

Are you ready to level up your home-alone skills? Over four fun and interactive sessions, participants learn how to feel confident and safe while home alone. We discuss topics like safety rules, time management, and how to handle emergencies. Plus, we discuss emotional preparedness and how to deal with different situations you might face at home.

Participants who will thrive in this environment can answer simple "WH" questions (who/what/where/when/why) briefly, retell stories in their own words, and practice conversations with prompts from adults or peers.

Summer Time Social!

(9-13 yrs)

Summertime Social is an in-person group for children and youth with autism.

Children and youth will participate in a variety of games with peers, like board games, guessing games, group games, quizzes, or card games.  Some skills your child or youth will practice are turn taking, sharing control of a game, and making appropriate comments all while having fun! 

Daily for 1 week - In Person

Transition Triumph - Building Strength Through Strategies!

(12-14 yrs and 15-17 yrs)

Transition Triumph is a virtual group designed to help your child/youth with autism prepare for new experiences from the comfort of home.  In our sessions, participants will learn valuable skills like joining activities, managing time effectively, handling new emotions, and creating a checklist for success.

Transition Triumph a great opportunity for them to build confidence and readiness for new challenges.
