Youth Drumming (12 yrs +)

Youth with disabilities, 12 yrs + and their siblings who reside within Elgin/Middlesex, Huron/Perth, Grey/Bruce & Oxford County.

What to Expect

Join TVCC's Youth Team and Connections Music Therapy for this popular Youth Drumming program! 

Each week youth will be guided through various activities using drums and other musical instruments. Led by Jess Dickie, owner of Connections Music Therapy, this program will utilize facets of music therapy and expressive arts to encourage creativity, mental  well-being, and self-confidence.  

Through this program, youth will:

  • Engage in physical activity including drumming and dancing
  • Boost their self-confidence through creative expression
  • Practice social skills through turn taking, group activities, and new friendships
  • Learn drumming, music and rhythm skills

Participant Criteria:

  • TVCC clients and their siblings ages 12+
  • Able to participate safely in group activities and engage with peers for the duration of the group; participants are welcome to have a support person present to assist them
  • Able to independently follow 2-step group instructions with or without accommodations
  • Interested in music and drumming and able to participate in drumming with or without accommodations

What is The Wellness Project?

The Wellness Project is a three-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families. We understand that the past few years have brought unique challenges, and we want to help. We're running programs with a focus on connection, mindfulness, physical activity, and new skills.

Date: Tuesdays, July 23-August 27, 2024 

Time: 1:00-1:45 p.m.

Location: TVCC, 779 Base Line Road E., London

Cost: $60 payable to Connections Music Therapy. (We will send payment method details) Families may submit receipts to SSAH or Passport funding, if eligible.
