Ride and Read Teen Library Adventure

For TVCC clients (12+) who reside in the counties of Elgin, London-Middlesex, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce.

What to Expect

Join the TVCC youth team on a visit to the Pond Mills library!

Youth will learn how to access public transit and the wide variety of resources available at the public library for youth. The visit will be structured with a guided tour as well as mindfulness and creative activities for youth to access freely.

This visit offers the opportunity for clients to build upon social skills and connections while developing life skills pertaining to the access of public resources, transit and transportation. Transportation will occur as a group, and while experience on public transit is not necessary, clients are expected to possess the self-regulation to ride safely alongside other clients and passengers.

After a visit to the library, clients will be stopping at Tim Hortons, where they will be welcome to help themselves to a snack covered by TVCC.

Clients are welcome to bring their library card if they have one or register for one that day.

In this program your teen will:
-    Build connections with other teens and build upon social skills
-    Gain knowledge on resources offered by the public library
-    Gain independence through transportation
-    Explore age and developmentally appropriate literacy materials

What is The Wellness Project?
The Wellness Project is a three-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families. We understand that the past few years have brought unique challenges, and we want to help. We're running programs with a focus on connection, mindfulness, physical activity, and new skills.
