For TVCC clients, 12+ yrs, their siblings who are 12+ yrs and parents/caregivers.
What to Expect
Sometimes it is a treat to have one-on-one time with your parent/caregiver, and sometimes it is a treat to have time without them!
TVCC youth (12+ yrs) clients and their families are invited to this special event with two separate programs running at the same time - one for TVCC clients on their own, and one for their parents/caregivers and siblings.
For Parents/Caregivers and Siblings (12+ yrs):
Come decorate sugar cookies! You have likely seen pictures of decorated sugar cookies on social media - here is a chance to try it yourself. We will be decorating Valentine's Day themed cookies together using royal icing. At the end of the workshop, you will have your very own edible works of art to take home.
For TVCC Clients (12+ yrs):
A fun evening of cupcake decorating (and eating!) and making some new friends! We will have some other fun, as well - board games, video games, arts and crafts, and more.
Through this program, youth will:
- Practice turn taking, group activities, and peer connection
- Boost their self-confidence
- Improve communication skills through shared activities and cooperative play
Participant Criteria for Youth Program:
- TVCC clients ages 12+ yrs
- Able to participate in group activities and discussion with minimal support; participants are welcome to have a support person present to assist them
- Have a parent/caregiver and sibling attending the Cookie Decorating program
Both TVCC clients and their siblings must be 12+ yrs to participate.
This program is facilitated by TVCC's Horizons Youth Program and TVCC's Wellness Project. The Wellness Project is a three-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families. We understand that the past few years have brought unique challenges, and we want to help. We're running programs with a focus on connection, mindfulness, physical activity, and new skills.
