For TVCC clients 5-9 yrs and 10 yrs +, who use mobility aids and/or have unique physical needs and reside within Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce counties.
What to Expect
TVCC clients, who use mobility aids and/or have unique physical needs can join us for this collaborative program with the Adapted Fitness Centre at TVCC.
This program will focus on healthy, active living opportunities for children and youth. Clients will participate weekly in a variety of adapted physical fitness activities that focus on physical health without accessibility barriers.
Clients must reside within Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce counties and be able to participate safely in a group setting: follow instructions, comfortable playing with others, have an interest in practicing and learning about adapted fitness, with minimal/moderate support and encouragement.
Throughout the program clients will be introduced to many different physical fitness and movement opportunities. Information on how to participate in these activities ongoing will be shared.
This program will focus on the following goals;
- Increase physical activity
- Cooperation amongst peers within a team setting.
- Fitness and leisure education for both caregivers and clients
- Physical literacy/fitness skill development
- Exposure to adapted fitness
- Community integration
