Talking Autism Together Series

For parents/caregivers of children or youth, of all ages, with autism.

What to Expect

"Talking Autism Together" is an interactive discussion for parents/caregivers of children with autism. Each session is facilitated by a Family & Community Consultant and will focus on a specific topic, offering practical advice and a space to share experiences and strategies.

March's topic is "Transitions Using Visuals". Come prepared to discuss various types of visual strategies to support children and youth with transitions throughout their day, such as first/then boards, visual schedules, countdown boards, and timers. We will share examples of what these visual tools can look like and how to introduce them into daily routines.

April's topic is "Summertime Social Skills".  Join us for a guided discussion focused on building and supporting social skills with your child or youth. We will discuss as a group how to set up social opportunities this summer, ideas for sensory-friendly or family-friendly local activities, and tips for planning for success. We encourage you to share any of your own strategies, ideas, or tips with the group.

Come ready to:

  • Ask questions. Get advice from others who have been through similar experiences.
  • Share what’s worked for you. Contribute your tips or strategies.
  • Learn together. Discover practical approaches from professionals.
  • Join us for a straightforward, supportive conversation where you can connect with others and find practical solutions to common challenges.
