For children and youth 8-14 yrs with autism and their caregivers, province wide.
What to Expect
Virtual Group Behavioural Treatment
Do you want to help your child/youth learn how to develop skills to manage their worry and fears?
Let's Shrink Those Worries is a virtual group-based anxiety treatment program that uses the evidence-based Facing Your Fears program curriculum to help caregivers and children learn skills to target specific fears or worries that impact day-to-day functioning at home and school.
In this group, caregivers and children will work together through interactive activities to help build anxiety management skills based on evidence-based principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy. Join us for 6 weeks (plus two follow-up sessions) to help shrink those bothersome worries!
Participants who will thrive in this environment can answer simple "WH" questions (who/what/where/when/why) briefly, retell stories in their own words, and practice conversations with prompts from adults or peers.
This virtual group is open to all children and youth with autism, aged 8-14 years old, province wide.
This series of virtual groups is offered through a partnership with TVCC's Autism Services and the University of Western Ontario Education Department and Mary J. Wright Child and Youth Development Clinic . This initiative is supported by a MCCSS Ontario Autism Program Workforce Capacity Grant in the Innovation Stream. It is a very exciting opportunity for Behavioural Services and Mental Health Services to work together!
